Let’s go back in time to the earlier ministry of Jesus—to a time before Lazarus has died and been raised from the dead, and before the time has arrived in which Jesus would be dying on a cross: Luk 10:38  Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.  Luk 10:39  And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.  Luk 10:40  But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care...

THOSE WHO ALSO TRUSTED [Ephesians  Luke]  We’re going to start today’s lesson in the middle of a chapter, and actually in the middle of a verse.  It may sound contradictory, and more than likely highly suspect to begin in this way, but you will be able to know shortly why I’m taking this approach.  Today’s lesson is in chapter 1 of Ephesians.  Take a look toward the middle of this chapter at verse 12: Eph 1:12 That WE should be to the praise of his glory, WHO FIRST TRUSTED IN CHRIST. [Matthew  John] In the book of Matthew, chapter 22, the Pharisees are trying to entangle Jesus in His talk. Apparently, they had already made up their minds that he must be killed.  Knowing they needed something to accuse Him of, they asked Him whether it was lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not.  THIS RUSE HAVING FAILED, the Sadducees came next with their fictious story of “the woman who had seven husbands”.  Lastly, one of them which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?  HIS ANSWERS PUT ALL OF THEM TO SILENCE....

THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT  [Luke 1  Matthew 5-7] Today we will be taking a brief look at the sermon on the mount. When Jesus preached this sermon, the Jews of course, were living under the law of Moses. [1 Corinthians] Turn to 1 Corinthians, chapter 8, verse 1.  The main subject here is “THINGS OFFERED TO IDOLS”. You might say, “Today we do not need these instructions.”  Perhaps we do.
